Any exceptions for salary employees?

My husband is now salaried based on a 50 hour work week; He been working 80 plus hours for about 3 months with no days off. Is it legal to work someone like that with no days off??

Sure it's legal, and it's also legal for your husband to find another job and give his notice.

Exempt does not allow you paid sick days. Exempt means that you are paid for the work you do, not the hours it takes to get it done. It is implied that if you are exempt you will work more than 40 hours a week. And yes, you may be able to take off time for an appointment and not have to use accrued sick or vacation time, but it is not the law that you can. Employers may require exempt employees to use accrued time off to account for time missed. They can not deduct money from your salary for time missed if it is less than a whole day if you do not have any time on the books to use.

I think that your husband needs to evaluate why it is taking him so much time to do his job and is it more than he is willing or able to do.

The beauty of being a salaried employee is that they let you work all the hours you want.

Question is why so many hours, and no days off. Is he perhaps over his head n the position, and cannot get his work accomplished in 50 hours? As salary yes you work until the job is done, you also get paid for sick days, taking a half day etc.
