Well, about 6 months ago i had an incident with my car. Long story short this girl sat on the trunk of my car right as i began to pull forward in a parking lot (my rearview mirror had fallen off about 3 days prior and i hadn't gotten around to fixing it yet, so i had NO idea she was on my vehicle). When i started to go around a left hand turn she fell off, bumping her head and spraining her ankle. Only when i heard the yelling did i know what had happened.
Well now her family is apparently trying to sue me. I have no idea what for specifically. My question is what can really happen to me? I mean my family isn't rich at all. My mother makes about 13 000 a year. Her car and my car are both in her name, And are both over 15 years ole and obviously not very valuable. We don't own a house. We don't own anything valuable at all. So if this goes to court and i lose, what can they really take from me?
Also, when i was contacted by my insurance company they asked to record the phone conversation when i told my side of the story. Recently the girls insurance company contacted me to tell my side of the story, but she did not tell me she was recording anything. If the conversation was in fact recorded without my knowledge and consent, thats illegal right? I live in Pennsylvania if that means anything. Any help here will be really appreciated. The Whole thing has me pretty worried. Thanks to all who answer!

It is not a good idea to seek legal advice over the Internet - the field of Law is too complicated for that.
Contact your local (usually county) bar association. Ask them for names of Attorneys that handle Personal Injury law.
When you call the law office(s), insist on speaking with the Lawyer. Do not tell the Secretary all the little details of your matter - save the details for the Attorney. When you get the Lawyer on the phone line, ask him/her:
- Do they give FREE initial consultations?
- How much do they charge?
- Do they take payments on their accounts?
- Can they help you? OR Refer you to someone who can help you?
