Be honest...only answer the question asked.

A deposition is testimony under oath taken for later use in place of a person's spoken testimony. Perhaps if you told more about your case you would get more reasonable advice, but if you feel you have something to hide, you should probably have a lawyer.

You will be "deposed" by the attorney for the other side who will ask you questions about the situation being contested. If you had an attorney, that person would also depose you at the same time. Everything you say will be transcribed by a stenographer and you will receive a copy of the transcript.

This is not a trial, no judge is involved and no decision will be made. The information you provide will be presented as evidence if your case does proceed to trial.

Answer honestly and factually. Don't guess; if you aren't sure, say so. Don't provide more information than asked for - for example, the answer to, "Do you know what time it is?" is "Yes" not, "yes, it's 11:00." Short answers are usually best - if the attorney wants more info, they will ask.

Good luck - stay calm, ask for a break or a glass of water if you need it. Hope all goes well for you.

A disposition is just some questions so the judge can make a decision it gives you time to tell your facts before the court date.
