Also, can they get much work easily. I heard they are paid per hour, but paid to do what? What do they do all day? Also, do they have to frequently be dishonest and/or immoral to win there case? Do you have to be uneithical to be a lawyer?
I am considering being one. I find law and court really intreasting...i think it would be fun.

Lawyers, just like any other profession, are not generally unethical people. Lawyers, unlike other professions, are required to follow a set of lengthy laws which require ethical conduct or the lawyer can lose their license to practice. I wonder how many other professions demand that kind of ethics of a person by the threat of taking away your ability to work? The same with the words dishonest or immoral. In fact it is a real insult for attorneys to be labeled due to a few bad apples. I had a plumber who caused damage and over charaged me, can I now call all plumbers dishonest? And what about those doctors who make mistakes? Are all doctors unethical???
If you are truely interested in joining the legal profession go to www.abanet.org. That is the American Bar Association's website, they have a section for those considering law as a career.
You will find that in order to get the name lawyer you will need to achieve excellent grades in high school and college. Then you will need to go to an ABA accredited law school, again have good grades. Law school will set you back about $40,000 tuition per year, for three years. You will then sit for a 2 FULL day exam, that you must pass in order to be licensed in that state. You will then compete with hundreds of other 'newly licensed' attorneys for a few good paying jobs. |

WARNING: Jobs in the field of Law are drying up FAST!!! This is NOT a good field to invest in right now!!!! Reasons: very bad economy, many people today (mistakenly) think they can do their own legal work now thanks to the WWWeb, there are WAY TOO MANY law schools in this country (USA) churning out WAY TOO MANY graduates to be supported by this country. If you do graduate, you probably won't be able to find a job. If you do find a job, you will discover that it is very political and competitive and employers typically do not have their employees's best interests in mind.
Suggestion: Go into the field of Healthcare <<< LOTS of jobs there. |
