Are there any career options after law school that doesn't involve arguing in a courthouse?

I'm considering law school but the idea of standing up in front of a judge and jury and presenting a speech is highly unappealing. Are there any career options after law school that doesn't involve arguing in a courthouse? Perhaps mediation between two parties or something like that?

First of all, being a lawyer does not equal litigation. Most lawyers do not step foot inside of a courtroom (except when getting sworn in). In fact, most lawyers do mainly transactional and contract work. There is much more to being a lawyer than arguing in court--Real Estate law, Corporate Law, Patent Law (need certain undergraduate degree and take a special bar exam), Intellectual Property, Food and Drug Law, Compliance, International Trade Law, Business Formation, Nonprofit law, Environmental Law, Water Law, Admiralty, etc. There are also other options like Politics. If you have a business undergrad, you could also consider corporate executive positions. The law degree can't hurt.

You can work in the business sector like banks and construction etc. You can even be a entrepreneur.

whatever
You could be a patent attorney, or a financial lawyer, or work as a consultent.

Have you thought about corporate law rather than criminal or civil? There are many industries that require good corporate lawyers they deal mainly in business transactions or transgressions from agreed contracts for projects etc. Or in the financial industry help resolve 'bad debts' etc. They are usually the 'last port of call in an FI' because they have a whole team of debt collectors first to sort out payment arrangements etc. Good luck
