Are there any laws requiring an employer to provide a minimum number of hours when hourly employees report to work? Could I be terminated for refusing a 2 hour shift? (it costs more for me to get there and home than I take homein pay) Please provide sites showing this. Additional Details I live in PA

Some states have laws on a minimum number of hours you must be paid for if you are scheduled to work, but PA doesn't. |

There are no laws that I know of regarding a minimum number of hours.
Depending on your employer and if you are union or not will make a difference.
Some employers will pay 4 hours of wages to someone who will come in and work those 2 hours.
An employer can terminate you for a valid reason, but employers are supposed to include a letter stating the reason for your termination with your final paycheck.
If your employer fires you, they have to give you your last paycheck on the spot and any vacation and holiday pay you earned and is due to you when they fire you.
They cannot wait until the next regular payday and you have to leave the property immediately.
Unless they allow you to remove your personal items, you will have to make arrangements to return and get them. |

Labor laws will vary state to state. If you live in a "Right to Work" state such as Arizona, you have few protections. If you live in an ultra liberal communist state such as Massachusetts - they probably owe you at least 5 years pay for even suggesting such an idiotic thing.
So - what state do you live in? |

This is why you people always ***** about the government controlling everything.
You think they really do !
There is no law that covers this situation.
A labor union contract could cover it.
THIS IS WHY YOU NEED A UNION. |
