I finally decided to quit (long story), and gave a one months notice (mandatory to be eligible for rehire, which is what prosepective employers will ask for future jobs). I had found a new position and could have started orientation on the 5th, but because I wanted to give the months notice and leave on a good note, I settled on the 20th date, and so gave my notice to leave on the 19th as my last day.
I had worked there 4 years with no disciplinary action whatsoever. I never got a review, either (they are too swamped, it seems)
I worked last weekend, and my mgr (who I never see, but has been non-supportive and the main reason for my leaving), called and asked if I wanted to leave early, and in fact was demanding it. I told her I would think about it, when I asked the reason, she said that not what she called about.
I called her the next day and said since I had vacation time equal to two weeks, I would work through the week. She then told me she would pay me the week.
Of course I am really bewildered. I had gone to her a few months back unhappy and she convinced me to stay (a few of the people I delegate to hate me it seems and that makes it hard to work) She told me I was too sensitive (even after one had yelled and "gotten in my face" vary inappropriately, a major cause for my leaving)
I dont know if I should forget it, file for UI for the 2-3 weeks without income, or call and ask for full pay (where they might trump up something to get out of it) HELP!

Just because you gave notice of leaving they don't have to keep you the full month. You are resigning remember. As for unemployment you can't collect because you are leaving for another job and would be ineligible. The could have let you go the minute you gave your notice. |

I would not agree to leave early under these terms. Tell them that you cannot afford to be without pay and the date stands. If they "insist" they you do leave early, demand that you be paid for the full amount of time that they would owe you. Depending on how much vacation/sick time you have accrued, you can use that, this way you still get paid but you don't have to deal with them. |

Once you've tendered your resignation, you are a liability to your employer. They are concerned that you could sabotage the company or steal clients without any repercussions (what are they going to do to punish you - fire you?).
If you don't have a family- or friend relationship with your employer, you can generally consider that offering advance notice will get you kicked out that day.
