I see references to the fact that you can refuse a job if it is significantly lower then your previous salary, but I never see an amount. How do you get info on a percentage or even a ball park amount. I cannot seem to get an answer no matter how hard I search.
I did ask New York State U/E a while back, but never got a real answer. I do not want to ask them again.
My previous employment salary per day was about $250. to $300. depending on the specifics of the job. I am now collecting unemployment. I have now hooked up with a company that will offer me a chance to get a job I really want, but they only sub out on a very, very low per hour salary amount. It is worth it to get your foot in the door.
It is actually 2 dollars less then I get from U/E. This would be fine if I only had trequests to work a day or so a week (it might take me 2 years to actually get the job), but it seems that the summer is the time when all the regular employees head for the hills and the subs take over.
I have to report the job, and then I lose the amount in my U/E that week. The problem is that I do not get paid weekly...I get paid monthly. This leaves me without any kind of income for all that time, if I happen to work a full week or at least most of the week. I cannot survive like this. I need to be able to refuse if I am called on a constant basis, and only accept for a day or two a week.
At what point can I legally refuse? ?Where is this information?
