In the US each state is a little different but generally benefits for temporary total disability (TTD) and permanent total or partial disability (PTD or PPD) are set by the state based on minimum and maximum weekly benefit amounts and your previous wages. All related medical costs are paid. Without knowing where you are, if you have reached maximum medical improvement (MMI) and if your PTD/PPD percentage has been set there is no way to estimate your settlement.
Once you reach MMI and the percentage is set then a settlement will be made based on that percentage using the states guidelines. The state must approve any settlement prior to its acceptance and it must meet their guidelines.
Most states limit what an attorney may charge due to the fact that in most states attorneys are seldom needed anymore. The use or need for an attorney is based on a number of issues such as; if the employer or insurance carrier has denied your claim or if you are having trouble getting medical attention.
