Background check, who pays for it if employer requires it.?

This is in the state of Texas and I am asked to pay a $50 fee to do the check with fingerprint.

The boss makes the rules. If he wants $50 and you want the job you pay $50... but why work for someone who you are already unhappy with?

This must be a mom-and-pop type of company as I have never heard of a company requiring applicants to pay for any test except for a 2nd test when the 1st comes out adversely impacting the applicant/employee. I have serious concerns about this company. However, if you want the job you must follow that company's requirements.

Sounds like a ripoff. If they get a result that shows that you are OK do they then pay? Ask them this question most business pay for background checks.

Never heard such a thing. The employer always pays for services like this if they require it. Ditto for blood tests/drug screenings. Be very cautions of this employer!

Nope, I sure wouldn't.

UNLESS, it's for a professional licensure that you will take with you.

But if an employer is too cheap to pay for your own background check, then I would be concerned if they could afford to pay me at all.
