Being demoted at work...?

I was told earlier this week, that someone at work will be laid off. I will be taking over for them which was my old job. I am not at all happy about this news. I feel completly frustrated as I feel I am getting nowhere career wise. I thought of looking for another job, but with the economy the way it is, and the fact that I am moving in a month, I just don't think I can start over again just as yet. How do I keep my sanity and just go do my work and come home?

Do the job, with a smile. Then update your resume. ALWAYS keep looking for jobs, even when you have a good one. Today people rise in careers via zig zag pathways, going across companies, not upward within companies. Keep your skills up to date, expand them. You are in charge of your career. Don't look at this as a demoton. Companies are going belly up all over the place, so for your company to do what it needs to do in order to keep their doors open, is a matter of survival. That is how you need to look at it--survival. Our economy is just now showing the signs of being sick --It is going to get much worse before it gets better so stay where you are a save as much money as you can because what people don't want to recognize, is that we are deep into a recession and it hasn't bottomed out yet. I think for all persons we should not put our faith in any person or group. I think this is what keeps those persons who have the Truth and exercise their knowledge from getting down despite what is happening in the world today. They do not value the world and so are victimized by its values. They experience hardships like you and others, but since they recognize this old system and its values are going down fast, they realize that all of those persons who are putting their faith in this old system will be gravely disappointed in the end.
