Being sued by home depot what can i do?

I just started a new job that I don’t make much at. I am now being sued by home depot for a credit card account that I did stop paying when I lost my previous job. What can I do I can not afford a lawyer plus I don’t make a lot of money. I also have child that I pay for to go to school each month.

Call the court and find out when your answer is due (your answer is your "response" to Home Depot's lawsuit). If there's still time to file an answer, find out where you need to mail it, and then write a quick letter in which you deny the debt. This will buy you some time and stop Home Depot from getting an automatic or default judgment against you.

From this point on, be VERY proactive in contacting Home Depot's attorneys and setting up a payment plan. Be willing to provide them with income tax statements and whatever else you can to prove that you can't pay whatever high demand they make. And once a payment plan is set up, STICK TO IT!!!

Set up a payment arrangement to pay a little each month. You have to pay your debts.

See if you can make some kind of payment plan with them, and stick to it. Otherwise they'll probably get a judgement that will let them garnish your wages.

You could talk to someone at a company called Consumer Credit Counseling - they are legit, and might be able to help you.

don't do anything until ordered by a court. you've already destroyed your credit status by ceasing to pay on the HD card. however, in the eyes of a court, this is 'unsecured' credit, and so you won't be in a position of losing a home or car or other financial asset (IRA, for example). And don't reply to attorney letters demanding payment. If you haven't already, cancel your landline telephone so no one can harass you.

send them a letter asking them to validate the debt tell them to reply in 30 days telling them you will concider the debt null and void if they do not respond in 30 days. also if they do get a judgement to garnish wages they will be limited to 15% of your new income.
