THIS IS VERY HARD TO EXPLAIN THE TRUTH AND NO MATTER IF IS TRUE OR NOT PEOPLE JUDGE AND I AM NOT IN DENIAL, I HAVE PROOF I AM INNOCENT.
IN 1997, I WAS CHARGED WITH A FALSE CRIME OF RAPE OF AN ADULT ONLY, AND BECAUSE I AM A MAN, I SPENT 4 YEARS OF MY LIFE IN PRISON. I SPARED A TRIAL BECAUSE THE LAWYER I HAD WAS A COURT APPOINTED LAWYER AND HE SCARED ME INTO TAKING A PLEA BARGAIN, NOT KNOWING A PLEA BARGAIN WAS ALSO A GUILTY PLEA. HE SAID THAT BECAUSE I AM A GUY AND I WENT TO TRIAL, NO ONE WOULD BELEIVE ME AND I WOULD SPEND 20-25 YEARS IN PRISON AND IF I TALK A PLEA BARGAIN AND WITH WITH GOOD TIME,I WOULD BE OUT IN NO TIME. THE PLEA BARGAIN WAS FOR 4 YEARS WITH 6 YEARS PROBATION. I WAS NEVER GIVEN A CHANCE FOR PEOPLE TO HEAR MYSIDE OR BE GIVIN PAPERWORK OF WHAT THE VICTIM SAID ABOUT ME. AFTER I WAS SENTENCED, I FOUND OUT THAT THE GIRL PUT 2 OTHER PEOPLE IN JAIL FOR THE SAME THING AND ONCE I SAW THE PAPERWORK THERE WAS NO RAPE KIT DONE AND THE BRUSIES WERE BLACK AND YELLOW AND SO MANY LIES AND DIFFERANT STORIES, I WOULD HAVE WON THE CASE, BUT THE REAL REASON THE LAWYER SAID THAT TO ME WAS THAT HE DID NOT WANT THE CASE, BUT DUE TO THE FACT THAT HE WAS A COURT APPOINTED LAWYER, HE HAD NO CHOICE .
NOW THAT I AM OUT OF PRISON, I CAN'T WORK DUE TO CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECKS AND I HAVE TO REGISTER EVERY 90 DAYS, PAY $ 25.00 TO THE STATE ONCE A YEAR AND LIVE LIKE A REAL RAPIST. MY SISTER SAID I WAS IN THE RIGHT PLACE WITH THE WRONG WOMAN. THE WOMAN WAS 25 YEARS OLD . I HAVEN'T WORKED A REAL JOB SINCE 2006 AND IF I DO WORK, I GET TERMINATED. SO MY QUESTION IS HOW CAN I WORK TO SUPPORT MY CHILD AND FAMILY AND I LIVE ON WELFARE, SOCIAL SECURITY AND THIS IS NOT THE WAY TO LIVE. I ALSO AM BEING LOOKED AT AS REAL RAPIST AND PEOPLE THINK I AM IN DENIAL AND I AM TRULY NOT AND I AM ALSO BEING JUDGED.
ANY ANSWERS WITHOUT PEOPLE FEELING SORRY FOR ME, JUDGING ME OR THINKING I AM IN DENIAL, BECAUSE I AM NOT LOOKING FOR THAT. ALL I AM ASKING IS ADVICE.

In my career I have run into this situation numerous times. If you speak honestly with your parole officer, there are numerous programs that can help you. Without admitting any guilt, approach them in the manner that you wish to reform, and change your life. Almost all probation/parole officers have a list of companies that hire people with a felony conviction.
As for the conviction itself, speak with several attorneys, and you may find one who is willing to take it pro bono. You may stand a chance of having the conviction overturned. |
