California overtime law..do i get paid overtime?

I've been reading up on overtime laws..just in case i'm able to get a bit of extra cash in my pocket (hey never know and can't blame me) and was wondering..

I worked tuesday from 5pm to 1 am.. (beginning the workday at 5pm) and had to work wed. at 11 am. -5 pm

since its all happening during the same workday am i entitled to overtime?

or is the break between shifts enough for me to not be allowed to receive overtime.

extra info that might be a point to note: its a part time job. # of weekly hours is not set.

any help is appreciated even if it is to links that can help answer my question. thanks in advanced

No, you aren't due overtime for that.

If you are not working more the 40hrs a week then you are not suppose to receive OT but if within that work week you are doing more then 40hrs a week then you should be getting paid time in a half for those hours anyway here is a link that you can read more on it http://www.gotovertime.com/ Take Care and Good Luck
