Can Employers demand college grades if no degree is required.?

I work at at a place where no degree is required for my job. My employer is demanding my grades, and I'm in college, paying for myself. Can they legally demand to see my grades?
I asked what it was for, and got no strait answers.

My grades are not in yet because I haven't finished the semester and only one of my professors actually posts grades online. Also, they only want them to revoke hours if my grades weren't high enough. I have achieved a 3.8-4.0 grade point average every semester. I expect nothing less.
I found it insulting that they did not think I was responible enough to care about my own grades.

Then tell them that your attorney has them for safekeeping with all your other important papers. Have their legal dept contact him...............no more will be said about that

Basically that is outside the scope of something they can ask....I won't give up my grades, unless they let me look over the co books.............

Well, I'm not really sure of the legalities of this issue, however, I do know you should be asking yourself a question...do you want to work a place that is so demanding and in your personal business. If you're already hired and do a good job, than I see no purpose of them seeing your grades. If you're not, you need to see how much this employer is going to demand of you, what potential this job can lead you to and if it's all really worth it. They're already making you feel uncomfortable.

I would sit down with H.R. or whomever is asking for this information and let them know. You don't mind providing information but you want to know what it is being used for. You are entitled to know why they want this information. If they can not give you a straight answer then I would let them know that you are not comfortable providing that information since they can't tell you what it will be used for. (If it is a requirement of employees to provide this information and it is explained in your company handbook then you may be required to do so)

Yes, they can. Lots of employers ask about grade point averages. You are representing yourself as being qualified for the job. A prospective employer is within their rights to verify your claims. Someone with poor grades my lack the knowledge required to succeed or simply may not be motivated to work hard to succeed.

You can refuse to give them. Of course, you won't get the job.

They can legally ask to see your grades.
In fact, many colleges designate a person in the registrar's office to specifically handle any requests they receive.
You can make it easy for them and show them your grades, or make them go the registrar route.
Do you want to keep the job? Then show them your grades.Are you ashamed of them?
