I work for a car dealership in MN, and I really just hate it. I'm planning on moving to my mother's in MO to go to school. I am not trying to cheat my company out of money, but I really cannot take the stress anymore. I'm a receptionist, and they've laid off so many people and turned jobs onto me. I feel like I'm being overworked, and definitely underpaid and unappreciated.
I want to be able to collect unemployment until I find a job down in MO. Has anyone ever dealt with this or know what to do? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

How can I do that, when I work in Minnesota but I'm moving to Missouri? I don't have time off coming up anytime soon, so it's either I put in a 2 weeks notice and don't get paid, or kindly asked to be laid off and hopefully collect unemployment.

Your employer pays into unemployment for you and if you are laid off it will not look good for him.
Get another job before you quit the one you have. Money not coming in especially if you need it is worse then no money at all. Working for a bad employer build character and will help you to appreciate one who is better. Often the more a company pays the more they will appreciate you and treat you with respect. They will also be more selective about who they hire.
Some car dealerships are known for being quite good while others are nothing more than a place to lie to customers.
My brother worked for a car dealership that was honest and did what they said they did. It was noted as a place where they did what the car needed and did not mislead people. He had worked for another dealership which was nothing more than a place for mechanics to be lazy and for the dealership to dominate the city and collect more money from the vehicles he sold. |
