Can I be compensated for the time I've worked?....?

I got a promotion at my job in January and its now March and I am still waiting on my pay raise. The DM keeps telling me that it is in the works. But i want to know if I can be compensated, if that is the correct term, for the time i have been working in my new position until the time I receive my raise.

CAN YOU?
yes but if you will is determined by the employers policy.
there is no legal requirement to make the raise retroactive in fact there is no requirement that you even receive a raise. |

There is no legal requirement that you be given a retroactive raise, or actually that you get a raise at all even though you were promoted. It's customary, but not legally required. |

Was there something in writing stating that you will get an increase? If not as long as they are paying you above minimum wage they do not have to give you a raise.
If its in writing then yes of course but if its not then sorry you will not see it. |

you are told you are getting a raise and you might even get it but there is no law that states you have to, be happy you have a job and let it go, I have seen people push and all of a sudden they will never have to worry about a raise from there current employer again |

You should receive retroactive pay for all the time you worked in the promoted position until your paycheck starts to reflect your new salary/wages. You not only *can* be compensated for your time worked under your promotion, but you *should* be. Once your raise kicks in on your paycheck, if you haven't received retroactive pay, then talk to your manager or put a call directly into corporate.
By the way, it's not unusual for raises to take time to be reflected on your paycheck. But it sounds like maybe your DM is getting a bit behind in his/her paperwork. Talk with him/her again and make sure he/she understands that you expect back-pay for the months you worked without the raise. |
