Can I be fired for not attending a meeting thats unpaid?

I work Mon-Fri 8am-5pm which is our normal business hours! On top of this im pain hourly not salary!
With this in mind, they sent out an email earlier this week for us to attend a meeting, out of 19 people only 2 said they would attend. I was not one of those two!
The meeting is from 6:30pm - 8:30pm which is after my day ends! I am not going to be paid to show nor given fuel or mileage compinsation.
If I stick firm do I have a right? Im not being paid so why would I go? Plus I take sleeping medication lol otherwise I never fall asleep.
