I live in Cali and a friend said yes... but it all depends on the employer anyone knows out there for sure.
Please let me know...
I'm looking for a new job but the stress my boss is giving me is affecting my health and well i dont know what to do.

Probably not. People can normally get unemployment under constructive discharge - meaning their employer forced them to quit due to abuse.
Stress? You would need to be more specific. Jobs in general are stressful. I doubt you would get benefits if you quit - unless there is a case of abuse.
A previous answer was correct in that the burden would be on you to prove it was constructive discharge. Stress related medical issues - even with a doctor's note - do not normally constitute constructive discharge. Constructive discharge would be illegal behavior by your employer, abuse and/or threats. |

I live in California and there is no way you can collect unemployment if you quit your job. After you file the claim online, the unemployment office will want to interview you on why the company let you go. After they finish interviewing you, they will call your former place of employment and ask for the same reason. You can't say because I quit because I can't stand my boss. So, you are basically screwed. |

You can, but the burden will be on you to prove that your reason was justified. The specifics will vary state to state. You can contact your local Unemployment Insurance office and they can help you.
If it's health related, I would bet the UI office would require you to present medical documentation that backs up your claim. |
