Can I get fired ?, after I called in about 2 1/2 hrs. ?

I called my work about 2 1/2 hrs, before I had to go in.
The supervisor seem upset, because she said, she had NONE one to go. She told that if a knew that I wasn't going to be able to make in today, that I had to call about 3 hrs before.
Additional Details
I live in California .
Besides I'm tired of that Job.

State laws vary, but employers establish the work rules for their company.
Most employers ask for employees to call in as far in advance as possible to give them time to find someone to fill in.
An employer has to have a good reason to fire you, otherwise you can file a complaint with the state or federal labor depts. and get your job back.
Tired of your job or not,you should find another job before you give your current job up.
You can file for unemployment, but it will depend on why you were fired that determines if you get unemployment or not.

if you are in the US
and
that is the employers policy
then
YES you can be fired....

will you?
that will be up to the employer based on your past performance and any issues you have had with attendance or punctuality.

EDIT:
'ernesthinton' -
"right-to-work" has to do with union representation and being allowed to work in a union shop without being a member.
"at-will" employment has to do with quitting or being fired for any reason or no reason at all (except an illegal reason).

generally absenteeism and failing to follow policies are considered cause for termination and therefor grounds to deny the employee any benefits under unemployment insurance.

you can and should file (if you are fired) but you probably won't qualify for benefits from UI

You can be fired. It'as a good thing that you're tired of that job, since you might not have it much longer.

Whether you get unemployment will depend on whether the employer appeals it, and what the state decides.

It depends on what your call-off poicy says. It also depends on how many times you have called off in the past and what your attendance poicy says. You probably need to familiarize yourself with those policies. One of the most annoying things for a manager to deal with is an employee that calls off shortly before they are scheduled to come to work. This is most likely why she seemed upset. If she told you to call 3 hours before then I would imagine that is what the written policy says. It is in your best interest to find out and then to follow the policy or they may have grounds to terminate you.

**edit
Based on your additional details, it is unlikely you would be fired for calling off one time. However, if you are sick of the job, find another one and give the proper notice to your current employer.

If you are in a right to work state, yes
