Can I get unemployment?

recently became unemployed due to an near miss accident that occured. I hit a pole on a hyster which resulted in no damage to the hyster or to the property of Shaw Industries but I still reported it trying to follow company policy. This led to my termination because of a previous incident.
Three weeks before this incident I had been on the hyster weighing a mandrel of yarn that had doffed off of my line. To weigh this mandrel of yarn I had to leave my assigned extrusion lines unattended and transport this mandrel to another department. In the process of doing this I had several ends drop on another line that I was assigned to watch, which is the first step in losing a line. When I pulled back up to my assigned lines I had an employee from another department waving me down and advising me that several ends had been droped and were running in the floor. In a rush I steped away from the hyster leaving the keys unattended. I asked the employee that had flaged me down to hold the stop button on the line that was having problems the correct procedure when entering into the lines red zone area where the ends were located and he pressed the stop button shutting the line down, at this point I went to report what had happened to my supervisor and the keys to the hyster were left unattended and found by another supervisor, I was placed on final warning for this.
When I hit the pole with the hyster what HR stated would normally be a verbal warning resulted in termination because I was on final, before this happened I had never had a near miss incident or accident in the 9 years I had been employed with Shaw. I will also add that several incidents have taken place on this particular hyster and after investigations had been performed it was determined that there was a visibility issue with this Cobra Hyster
I was cleared by the nurse at work to operate this hyster and was given a vision test she said I had 20/30 vision. Today I went to the eye doctor and he said I had 20/50 vision and needed glasses he also said my diabetes could affect my vision from day to day.

File for unemployment. You won't know unless you do file. Many times, an employer will not protest your claim, they no longer have you working there and many times they will be satisfied just with that.

You need to file the day you were released from employment, if you have a given time period in yes you can collect if not you can not. You need to go to your locale labor and ask them. This is funded by the federal government but state ran so the rules mite be different. Go to your state labor board and file that you were released from employment and ask them. They will tell you.
