Can I sue my former employer?
Find answers to your legal question.

Can I sue my former employer?

I was hired to work for this small time company, and was told that I will get a raise after the first 60 days were over. After 6 weeks, when i went in my regular time in morning, I was told they dont need me anymore. No warning, no work quality problems from my side, nothing.. Can I sue them for firing me for no reason?

If you live in an at-will state (which most states are), then no.

Unless you have proof of why they fired you and it's against the law (i.e. because of race, religion, gender, etc) or you can provide proof of your firing being against company policy (i.e. your company requires one warning before they can fire you), then you can sue. Otherwise they can fire you if you sneeze the wrong way.

I don't think so. But I would ask nicely and see why they did that. This economy is going down hill and they don't give reasons any more.

Probably not. You were more than likely on probation. Get used to this. It's the corporate way. No notice, and an escort out.

I'm sorry to hear about your getting fired. Not to sound mean or offend any of the other Yahoo members, but I probably wouldn’t rely on anyone’s answers here. You should probably consult with a lawyer if you haven’t already to see what they think. When I had a legal problem, I used quicklegalanswer.com. It was fast and cheap. I’m sure someone over there can help answer your question. Anywho, best of luck!! Hope I helped!! If you need anything else, just e-mail me.

The simple answer is no.
