Can I take my employer to court for Slander?

I have just been accused of falsifying time sheets at work which I did not do, I work part time 16 hrs and I am now waiting to hear from my boss to see if he is going to sack me or not.. At first he was going to sack me and after hearing my side of the story he has told me to go home until he contacts me. If he sacks me can I take him for Slander ( i cant go for unfair dismissal as I havent been there 12 months. Please, can any one offer any solutions

Slander is spoken defamation of character and difficult to prove in a court of law.
Libel (written) defamation is hard evidence. |

i would want to publicly clear my name...so i would get advice on pursuing a slander case...& if he puts anything in writing...keep it - that might be libellous...but you had better have proof of the reason he is firing you. good luck! |

If he's got half a brain he's sent you home until he has proof either in your favour or against you. If it's against you then you will be sacked... Take him to court.... nope, you won't have a hope, he's got proof, you lose. |

It's defamation if he tells others that you did something (usually criminal) that you did not do. Usually you don't need alot of proof to file a suit for defamation. |
