Can I take my time on the job in a state job with me if I take a federal job?

I currently work as a state employee and am in the process to get a new job as a federal employee. Someone told me that they thought I could take my time on the job in state employment with me to the federal job. They said everything including sick time, vacation time, retirement, seniority, etc. would all transfer or roll over to the federal job; they were pretty sure someone else they knew had done it in the past.
Also, if this is possible to take my time, would it be of any more benefit to buy back some time that I have worked but do not currently have credit for? Any more questions or details needed, please ask.

generally NO! military time does count though. I would guess there are exceptions for very select positions and they honor the state time, etc to get the applicant on board. |

It varies by state and the relationship of the state to federal department.
I know a guy in New Hampshire who went from a state environmental investigator to a regional EPA investigator and the EPA honored his vacation, sick time, etc. I doubt that is universal.
Ask the prospective employer in your second interview (not the first... bad etiquette). |
