I've been on unemployment since August (in Florida). I've been looking for work and been on a few interviews. I believe I'm going to be made an offer this week, but I don't think the pay will be anywhere near what I need.
If I turn down the position and report to unemployment that I was offered work, how does that affect my weekly unemployment pay? Or does it?
Am I allowed to turn down a job?

Check with your particular unemployment office, but I suspect that unless the offer is lower-by-some-percentage than what you were earning before, it shouldn't stop your benefits even if you don't accept the offer. |

No, You can not refuse any job offers.The state of florida will cut you off completely. Just ignore that job and keep looking. Good Luck. |

if they find out you turned it down, you could lose your benefits completely-not sure how much leeway they give you on the offered salary vs. your last working salary |

You'll need to report the offer to the unemployment people. If the pay is far below what you were making before, it might not affect your benefits, but you need to find out for sure from the unemployment people. Laws generally say you can't turn down "suitable" employment, but what's suitable can be a judgement call on the part of the unemployment comp people. |

Don't report until you get the job first.
You don't have to tell them that yet, no don't tell you were offered work. |

Don't mention that job at all. Just keep it off your report altogether. |

Yes, there will be some guidelines. Otherwise they would expect people with families to take minimum wage jobs. That won't work. |
