Can I work part time & file for unemployment?

I recently got laid off of my full time job on Friday. I am expecting to receive one more check from them on the 27th for a full 80 hours. (get paid every 2 weeks). Anyway, I was told from my employer that I cannot file for unemployment until the receive that last check. I was already hired to work part time at another company and was to start next week. Since, if I started the part time job, I would be "employed" by the time I can file - will I get turned down for unemployment? By part time, I mean less than 10 hours a week. Should I just not take the part time job? Also, I'm having an attorney check into this next week- but I'm 34 weeks pregnant on top of all this. Is there anything legally that I can check into as far as that goes? I was laid off due to cutbacks. I live in Ohio by the way. Sorry if this is confusing, just trying to get some insight on what I should do next.

One of the requirements for collecting unemployment is you are willing and able to work. Your part time job would preclude you from going on job interviews. Check your state's unemployment website.
