Can My boss sack me for the below reasons?
Find answers to your legal question.

Can My boss sack me for the below reasons?

I have been bit irregular last year. Reason, insomnia and I had to get int work late like in the afternoon.

this year, I am very regular, but, he has asked me to improve my time-keeping.
After a month, I was getting into work as some other employees as some of my team mates do start late like 10:30.
So, he is now told me that he is still not happy and will be telling the Hr again. I told him that I wasn't aware he wants me in 10am. Now, I have agree for him to watch me for another 2 months which he doesn't seem too happy about.
My performance has no issues at all. I am a good honest worker.
But, I recently had a problem with another employee who was shouting at me and was consistently harassing me too.

so, seems like there is a lot of negativity around me at this place. I want to stay as I have made some friends here and there is good work in the pipeline too.

do you think my manager has enough reasons to sack me as he seem to have taken on disliking for me?
Additional Details
i am in London and with the company for 5.5 years now

I would think it would depend on the hours you are contracted to work. Are there set hours? What sort of job is this where people start at 10.00am - 10.30am? To what time do you work? Do you work on into the night?
Your contract of employment should specify what is required of you. If you are short-changing the company in relation to the hours you keep, yes, they can sack you after verbal and written warnings. They are under no obligation to pay you if you should be there, and you are not.

Why did you not know what time you were meant to be at work? That seems very strange....

Try to be in work on time, and then he won't sack you.

well yes, i do think he can sack you.

Why should he have to pay you when your not working to his standards?

My boss would've sacked me months ago if i had done things like you...

Get there 15 minutes early everyday if you want the job.

Bosses can sack you for whatever reason these days and dress it up in whatever way they want. My advice is to get yourself into work on time permanently, and keep you head down, if your boss is watching you you'll have to!!

At will employment -- you can be terminated at any time for any reason, or for no reason at all. In this case, they have sufficient cause to terminate you and you will not be able to collect unemployment. Insomnia or no, get to work on time. No excuses accepted.

do you think it is right to give an excuse as having insomnia as a reason for not arriving for work at the designated time? did you tell the interviewing staff this? if so did they allow for this problem? sounds like you did not tell them at the interview that you had this ,so called insomnia problem, it seems like your employers have given you lots of chances, all of which you have ignored, no wonder your colleagues are fed up with you and yes i would agree that your manager has more than enough reasons to sack you

Sorry pal, but it seems to me that your manager has very good reasons for not liking you! The trouble with bad time keeping is if you let one employee get away with it then the others think they can as well.

To sack you though he would have to go through the official warnings process first.

Some people take things like being on time very seriously and if they think that you are 'swinging the lead' or just not tuning up when you are expected that may be why you are sensing hostility. People feel that they have to take up the slack and also that they are there when someone else isn't makes them feel resentful.
Its often similar when one person in a team smokes and they go off for a ten minute cigarette break, that can be seen as unfair on the non-smokers.
Apparently one of the best things you can do to reset your getting out of bed body clock is to make really certain that you get up at the same time seven days a week (early enough!). Then you are more likely to sleep during the night. Its the uneveness which makes it harder to sleep/wake

You can still save your job. Ask your boss if you could sign in when you arrive early, and he initial it every day. If you have to, make up a form, i.e.:

Your name Date Time In Your supervisor's Initials
Do the above heading column-style with more spaces inbetween.

This'll show your initiative and willingness to improve your punctuality.

At the end of the week, he gets the original, and make a copy for yourself. He could always claim on hearsay you're late-but this'll be your evidence you're not.

Do whatever it takes for you to get there early.

As for that employee who shouted/harassed you-if it happens again, don't confront and don't feel intimidated. Walk away and start documenting: date, time, place, employee's full name/title, what transpired and the fact you walked. Doing so gives you empowerment. Tell your boss, and at the same time give him a copy of your documentation as back up.

Good luck

Have you been given any verbal or written warnings?
Have a look at your employment contract stating the hours of contract that you must work.
If you feel that you are being harassed keep a diary of times details and any witnesses present .Its always better to get a written formal complaint in first for an internal investigation to take place rather than wait until you get the sack.No employer wants to be taken to the Employment Tribunal. If you get the sack after complaining this would be viewed as victimisation by the Employment Tribunal.

Check UK Employment Law but if you are constantly late he ca sack you for your timekeeping. You must know what your working hours are, you have been there 5.5 years? I suffer from insomnia but I make sure I get to work in time, usually I have about 5 hours broken sleep. When I started working in 1972 if you were late for work 1 time it was a verbal warning, 2nd time a written warning and 3rd time fired. I have been off work 3 times since 1972.

you don't say where you live or how long you have worked there

If you are in the UK and have under 1 years service, yes he can let you go and doesn't have to give specif reasons
other than you are not suitable for the job and are unreliable

Jimmy B
Yes he can but it sounds like you are unhappy with this job. If so, it is time to look for another one.
