Can Wal-mart fire me they say for refusal of job, but wasn't. I believe I was in my probation period. ?

I had been there a month and a half. I was hired as a different department cashier. They say they can pull me on the front end whenever because I was hired as a cashier. I told them that I would work up front but I couldn't work all day up there because I can't handle the stress up there. The front end manager mentioned about getting me as a sales associate instead but my hours and possibly my pay would be cut. I told her that was fine that I didn't care, that I just couldn't handle the stress up front. She went and talked to the co-manager and he said it was refusal of job and fired me. Can he fire me, even though I might have still been in my probation period?

YES they can fire you, even if you were not in the "probation" period.
your employer, ANY employer, can change your job at any time(unless you are under contract that specifically addresses the issue), they pay you to do what they need done.

During your probationary period they jcould have fired you for coming in one minute late. That is the whole idea of a probationary period. You are up for review every single second of your workday.

yes, look up "employment at will", you can be fired for cause, or no cause, its the law. If you can not handle the stress of cashiering "up front" you are probably not a very good fit for a busy retail store like Wal-Mart anyway. You should look for a job where you are less stressed, more suited to your skills, retail is not for everyone.
