Can a male lawyer have long hair?
|
Provided it is well kept, neat and pulled back at work? I have hair just below my shoulders and I am studying law. I have seen a few lawyers with long hair so I was just wondering? BTW I am gay if that makes a difference.

Why does being gay make a difference? Do you have better hair if you're gay? Maybe I should convert. :)
There are all different types of lawyers, and law firms, just as there are all different types of hairstyles. Working for a huge East Coast suits-and-ties law firm with a strict dress code might not be your style - find a firm that reflects the things that are important to you. |

You can but there will be a dress code you have to uphold and the partners may not take you seriously with long hair. |

Yes, there isnt any restrictions on hair for lawyers,
its just expected to be kept nice.
I think you'll be fine, provided it isnt like a mo-hawk or something along the lines of that. |

Yes, but seriously I would want somebody who looks professional and as neat as you can keep your hair I still wouldn't want a lawyer with long hair. |

Sure and also a powdered white wig. |

?

I would say that "yes" it is okay, however, it is the potential clients that would ultimately make that decision, people unfortunately sometimes judge a book by its cover and you never know what "they" will see at first peak. Hopefully they will just see your ethics and intelligence - Good Luck!!!! |

It will depend entirely on the lawfirm or DA's office or corporation you intend to work for.
I would suggest that you cut it in a conservative fashion prior to your interviews. After you get the job of your dreams you can test the waters at your place of employment and go from there.
As a general rule, if you want to buck the establishment you will need to be 10x better than those who "look" the part. So once you prove to be the Hawkeye Pierce of the legal community you can probably dye it green if it suits your fancy.
Follow the rules until you're a star though.
Best of luck to you! |

well, i think thats ok, but being well groomed will give you a better prospective in the clients eyes. They judge you by your appearance before anything, so make sure the first impression is good. I suggest you cut it short ,like Bradd Pitt.
Also make sure you always dress approprietly.
i did work experiance for some lawyers and one was at, long hair, messy, stained clothes, his belly was hanging out and it did nothing for the clients who had meetings with him.
The better you look, the better in general.
Hope it helped. :) |

Sure you can. No profession should take your identity away. Just make sure they are pulled back and neatly trimmed. And who cares if you are a gay or not. YOU ARE WHAT YOU ARE! |
