This writer keeps plugging away. Personally, I think he just is psychologically impaired and afraid to apply for or take a job. So the writer has no income, but is not eligible for welfare. Could the writer get unemployment. I know actors are always doing this, as are people in occupations where you keep getting laid off. I don't know but probably retirees can claim the insurance if laid off, even if they are getting retirement pay, but want to work for needed income. Anyone know about this stuff?

I don't think you'd qualify. I am published having 13 stories in the last year published but they were free gigs so I feel your pain. |

No, to get unemployment, one of the requirements is that you have worked in a covered job within the past year. There are other requirements, but this person doesn't meet that one for sure. |

If he was a self-employed writer, then he can't get unemployment income. No self-employed individuals qualify for unemployment because you can't officially fire yourself. |

no clue but id say some of us need to stop relying on the screwed up government because this is the reason the government is so screwed in the 1st place .too many healthy men and woman bathered with laziness sitting around waitin on EBT and all them things.that money could be use on better stuff like the ppl that really cant get a job for various reason which is good reasons. |

Did he pay UNEMPLOYMENT On himself? No, doubtful.
Of course, if he'd worked for a magazine or newspaper, it might have been paid ON HIM.
Even if he had done so, time of payments would have run out after three years, I fear. (they draw from 6 months back).
Here's hoping he finds a real job soon and perhaps then really gets into his writing in spare time! |
