My supervisor and I are in a dispute about an HR issue. So far (as I think HR) is siding with me. However, a week ago my employer said: I'd be totally be embarassed if I had sent out that email. So, if you want to look for another job, I understand. And you can use me as a reference. She then went on to say that she can't trust me...She also said we should not talk about personal matters. HR told me they are taking my case in the email.
I had a private appointment at work today so I left early. My boss asked me: I see that you have a private appointment. This has nothing to do with it, but are you looking for another job? I said I don't feel comfortable answering that question. She explained.that she needed to know for staffing reasons. I said that you told me that you don't trust me and I don't trust you. Why would I tell you that? Do you want me to look for another job? Do you want me fired?
She then accused me of being aggressive. Was it inappropriate for her to press for more information after I said I don't feel comfortable answering?

I would say yes, it was inappropriate. Maybe she is looking for some ammo to can you. Claiming you are not into your job anymore.
Personal note, i doubt her claim that she could be used as a reference is in good faith, from what you said she doesn't seem the type. |
