They made you an offer that you accepted and then people from HR searched your myspace and facebook page and retracted the offer.

It is basic knowledge of law, that there is a concluded contract once the offer is accepted. The employer cannot, by any stretch of imagination,rescind the order .
The action of the employer is illegal and you can sue the employer for specific performance of the concluded contract !! |

if you're in an At-Will state, they can fire you for any reason, so they could also rescind an offer for any reason - haven't you seen the horror stories of people who had stupid stuff on their myspace pages and lost jobs because of it - that's the risk you take if you want to advertise your whole life out on the internet |

Social networking is a hot topic in employment law these days. It is actually legal to retract an offer letter at any point before the applicant begins work. It is not uncommon for employers to research prospective employees on social networking sites and base employment decisions on what they find there.
The moral of the story is that if your email address is luvs2party@wildchild.com and your facebook page has crazy photos of your spring break in Ensenada, you may be popular with your peeps but not with the boss.....sorry..... |

I think that is legit. Its like a background check that came back negative. They have all right to do it in that situation. I am sure the letter was written with lots of outs. tba |

Absolutely.
They made the offer prematurly. A mistake? Yes. Somthing you are going to profit from? Nope.
There are many cases where people have gotten fired after the boss/HR saw a myspace page. |

Did you sign the offer letter? If not, yes they can take it off the table. You can got to court and say you made a verbal acceptance if its true, but you will spend some money and lose most likely. |

Sure can.........I don't understand why people post things that can haunt them for the rest of their lives........but........its up to them......even if you signed a letter of intent the company can terminate you for any reason. |
