Can anyone tell me if it is legal in Georgia to suspend your employment without telling you why?

I was told to turn in my keys until further investigation. I don't even know what I am being accused of.

Ugh that drives me nuts when someone starts flapping about Right To Work states and they have no idea what the hell there talking about. Georgia is an Employee-at-will state meaning you can be fired with or without cause and with or without notice (and vice-versa.) It would help if you would have written what kind of work you do and type of business. Based on the little that you wrote it appears they are investigating a theft(s.) With that said Georgia has a "suspension law." In the event the person is found not guilty after the investigation process they are supposed to be paid for that time during the suspension period. I am not at all happy with the way they are handling this since you should have been advised why you have been suspended and allowed to defend yourself. If you have the money I would consult with an employment & labor relations attorney (you can go to nolo.com to find an attorney in your area) to make sure what they are doing is on the up and up. My biggest concern is if they find you are guilty they will use this to deny an unemployment claim you make and even worse give you a bad recommendation regarding this situation and you will not be able to secure future employment (No. there are no laws in any state that prevents a former employer from giving a bad recommendation unless it is done with wilfull and malicious intent to purposely harm the individual.)

Absolutely. Georgia is an "at will" employment state.

if Georgia is like Arizona, it is a right to work state and they dont need any reason to investigate or suspend or fire. just wait it out and I hope to best for you.

In 48 states, you can be fired for any reason, or no reason at all. Except for discriminatory reasons, such as your race or gender or skin color.
