Can employers make you pay for paid breaks once you have left the company?
Find answers to your legal question.

Can employers make you pay for paid breaks once you have left the company?

I have just quit a job where I recieved 15 minutes of paid break when I worked for more than 5 hours. When I went to pick up my last check, I recieved a note in which my employer stated that I must "pay for my breaks". Is this legal? What should I do?

If you are in the US, federal law requires that you be paid for 15 minute breaks although not required for lunches. So no, they can't do that.

See http://www.dol.gov/dol/topic/workhours/breaks.htm - or print it out and show it to your boss.

Can you name the company and where they are doing "business"
if you can document this, and the bit about being asked to pay for your break time, you have a case, seek out a LAWYER and get busy!

If they established before hand that breaks are paid, then no it's not legal. They can change the policy, but they can't initiate that change only on the last paycheck without consenting you beforehand.
