I just came back from vacation and we got a new manager (radio shack). I have not been back to work yet as I was not scheduled to work this week for some reason. My friend who is assistant manager says the new manager wants to let me go. i haven't even met the new manager or even spoke to him yet.

perhaps the new manger would like to meet with you before putting you on the schedule. could be the manager just wants to be clear on your availability and cover any new expectations for your job. do not assume the worse, communication is the key to resolving most issues. |

Yep, especially if you took off without proper approval.
If you came back from vacation and weren't on the schedule, why wouldn't you talk to the manager to find out why you weren't scheduled? |

My Sister in law was fired last summer on her 1st day back from vacation.They brought a new person in and let my Sister in law go and she had been with her company at least 5 yrs.I hope this does not happen to you good luck! |

Yes, you can be fired while you're on vacation.
Did your friend say WHY the manager wants to file you? You might try talking to the manager to find out where you stand. |

Yep. An at will employer in an at will state can fire you at any time. |

If you're an at-will employee, you can be fired for any reason or no reason at all.
If not, they have to prove proper cause to let you go. |
