If you were fired without what your situation determines as "good cause" you can. Apply; let the state sort it out. Odds are, unless you work for a very small company or messed up pretty badly, most employers won't challenge a filing.

If you are still ill, unfortunately you cannot collect unemployment. You can only draw unemployment if you are able to work (and can look for work), so if you were fired due to illness and now you are able to work, you can.

You have nothing to lose to apply. If you're still out due to illness, perhaps you can apply for social security disability.

I don't believe so. Last i recall you only get to collect unemployment if you where illegally fired, or layed off.

It does not hurt to try. Some companies will not argue a claim. Also you should be in a condition ready for work. When you file unemployment you will be required to seek out employment.
