If you lie on any job, an employer normally would fire you if they believe you are a marginal to bad employee. If you are the best employee they have ever had, they will talk to you and say never let it happen again but they would keep you.

If your friend has a lawyer tell the lawyer to send you a subpoena. That's a paper which requires you to be in court.

I don't think your boss will fire you unless he's just waiting for an excuse to do it anyway.

An employer has the right to fire you for any reason.

most definitely you will get fired from this. if you work tomorrow tell them that your friend asked you to go to court, they might not believe it but it worth a shot

'Fess up. And yes, you can be fired, so be very apologetic that you left him with the wrong impression that it was YOUR court case.

Tell them the truth. Unless these are two separate incidents and you're stringing them together, furthering the lie. The fact that they're asking shows you may have given the reason in the past to have you under a microscope.
