Depending on where you live, you can quit tomorrow - unless you have an employment contract that says you can't.

If you leave earlier, then your "quit with notice" becomes "quit without notice", which may hurt you if you ever try to use that employer for a reference.

I've heard of people doing this before, but I wouldn't abuse it. Make sure you take the days in the proper way (aligning with company policy and all that) and make sure you remember that you'll want this employer to give you a positive recommendation. Even if you have a job already lined up, when you're ready to leave THAT job you'll need to have a line of positive recommendations for your resume. Good luck.

If your contract states you have to work one month's notice then you have to do the month. It is in there for a reason - to enable your employer time to find someone else.

If you leave earlier you are in breach of contract and can be sued. It can end up costing you a lot of money.

see how much holiday entitlement you have and take that in leu of notice or throw a sicky esspecially if you get paid sick leave,

Without a lot more information, I would say if you already have a job waiting and your new employer is ok with you leaving, then go for it, but if you will be looking for work and need to use this employer as a reference...stay for the month.

I agree w/ girlworking you can quit tomorrow. Just check your contract if you have one. A lot of places don't give you a employee contract.

Even if you sign a contract saying you have to work so much notice, you only actually have to give 24 hours. The contract is something that the company would like you do so most people oblige but by law you only have to give 24 hours if you are going to give any at all.

If you gave a months notice then you are obligated to work the months notice, I do not understand your comment about working the days you have already been paid for, are you paid in advance? will you not be paid for extra days that you will work between now and your resignation date? If you desperately need to leave earlier then speak to your boss and see what can be arranged
