When you say felon what was the charge? Considering you are still so young more than likely the case will be espunged once you are the age of 18 or 21 years old (make sure your attorney does this.) However, you do not mention what the crime is. Murder? Attempted murder? Rape? If it is any of these charges I am afraid you destroyed your dream.

Most felony records are not reported after seven years. If you're concerned that a potential employer may find the record and you're only 15 now, I don't think you have anything to worry about. I suggest you consider going into private practice anyhow. Psychiatrists make far more money doing so. Keep your head on straight from now on and get the education you need to succeed in this profession. Best of luck to you.

Yes.... but if people know your background no one will want to see you... so you will make no business!

Not certain why you'd choose to be a psychiatrist (which requires medical school and is generally focused on treating with medication). Have you considered going the route of chemical dependency counselor (which you CAN do with a felony in the past). You would be able to study psychology on the side to gain expertise in understanding human beings, while having an opportunity for steady income. While a felony history DOES scare ordinary people, it is actually an asset if you work with people who have criminal backgrounds (given the obsession with convicting/incarcerating people in the USA, that limits you potential client base to around a mere 10 million people or so). There is a growing movement to provide appropriate/targeted rehabilitation/treatment for felons returning to communities - so your skills (and your personal experience with 'deviant behavior'- so long as you have thoroughly understood it and put it behind you)- would be potential assets. How do I know this? I'm a board certified psychiatrist/psychoanalyst with a felony history.
