Can i take Un-paid Leave?
Find answers to your legal question.

Can i take Un-paid Leave?

I enjoy working, but have run out of holidays and will still be requiring time off in the near future.

What does the law say? Can you show me the law online somewhere?

You can take unpaid medical leave under the FMLA provisions. For non-medical, you budget your vacation time better.

Depends what for. I got unpaid leave the week before my Wedding as I'd used my last leave days for the honeymoon

If your employer agrees to allow it, sure. If you ask and they say no, which is their right, but you take off anyway, they can and most likely will fire you.

They are only required to allow unpaid leave if you request and qualify for FMLA leave.

The law doesn't address this -- therefore your employer can refuse to give you time off without pay.

it's up to your employer but I would say if you ate up all of your vacation time and live in the US where most states are "will to work" states that unless it is a medical emergency you're probably going to be fired for being irresponsible or unreliable

Appears you like your time off more than working.......your gonna get canned..........the law says keep the boss happy or your out........

talk to you boss and see what they say. i mean after all its unpaid. you should be able too. but if u work somewhere like in retail it may be hard because they dont really allow u to take off a during the christmas season. but it doesnt hurt to ask.

the worst the can happen and is they'll say no.
