Yes, unless you have a contract for a specific wage, or unless it falls below the minimum wage. Tort law assumes an "open contract" when there is no written contract. In this case, unless there is a written contract, an employer can raise or lower your wage and can change your work assignment, change the time when you work, and can even eliminate your position. For your part, unless there is a written contract requiring you to remain employed, you are allowed by law to quit and go somewhere else for any reason, and no notice needs to be given. |

Why were your wages cut?
The only think I can think of is,your employer is experiencing serious financial problems and his advisors told them to cut your pay (and others) . He may be giving you more hours to offset the lower pay.
Just a guess, but we need more info. |

please verify with the Labor Department or the HR officer in your company.
if I recall correctly, no employer can reduce your hourly wages or salary due to a change in your job function while employed in the same company |

Probably, unless the new wage falls below the minimum wage law. Even if the new job is only slightly different, they could classify it as a different job or position with a different pay scale |
