I recently lost my job due to my employer saying i wasnt performing my duties good enough on camera, now i found out since being gone a week she is showing the video tape to every emplyee in the building in order to scare them into doing there job is this legal?? Please state how you know if this is legal or not along with your answer (example:link to a website... ect......)

Im in NY and no theres no audio. We all know there are cameras.

Here is a big problem in answering your question for those of us familiar with this type of law. You do not mention what state you are in which is necessary to give you the correct statute. You have two issues here. The first being what are the privacy act laws of your state. Second: Were you and the staff made aware that you are being videotaped. Third: Is there sound on these tapes. As for them showing this tape to other employees without your consent definitely there is a major legal threshold which applies in 38 states that it cannot be shown without the persons consent. I suggest you meet with an attorney who specializes in privacy act laws and civil rights. |

Is PA one of those states? Also, who in the work place is allowed to be privy to my social security number? Is it only my employer or other employees? What exactly is the definition of employer according to PA law? And can a business run a business out of another business according to PA law?
