This person brags about smoking blunts everyday after work and I reported them. Today I was yelled at by that employee because my manager reported to them that it was me that told them. Is this legal? If not can you send a link stating this?

I would go over the managers head if possible and report them for talking about what you reported them. If that is not possible, call an attorney and ask about a suit for slandering you. |

Its legal but a good manager would have kept that discreet. What you could do now is report this to HR and they would take care of that manager and possibly that employee if they are still there. I can't give you a link but I've been in management and I know you don't disclose information to employees. Obviously, you have a weak manager that got scared of the employee when questioned who made the statement or they are friends (another management mistake) |

I'm pretty sure that is illegal. You are supposed to be protected from any kind of harm and without fear of repercussion by anyone when you report something that happened in the workplace. It was in my code of conduct at work, I would see if your workplace has anything similar. I hope that helped a little. Good luck! |

you need the law in your state or contact a lawyer they should be able to tell you if your employer broke the law I don't think there aloud to tell any body who told on them. |

Why would it be illegal? And why did you rat them out, anyway? Sounds to me like you got off easy -- your fellow employee is merely going to hate you forever, tell everyone else at work that you're a snitch, and see if he can catch you doing something that might cost *you* your job. Rightly, in my opinion. Or just follow some of the other advice here -- try to get the manager fired, go over his head, sue the company. Any of those will do wonders for your career prospects, LOL. |

I would contact the local employment commission and get their input. Sounds like you can file a complaint against your company for now putting you into an unsafe environment. They guy is doing drugs, he can't be all that stable.... |
