Are there any federal or state (Indiana) regulations that require employee personnel records be kept in hard copy format, and if so for how long? We are thinking of scanning and converting files to electronic copies after a certain time period.

There are records retention laws that your accountant should be able to provide to you. You really want to talk to someone who you trust to interpret this.
Regarding scanned or hard copy, generally speaking once you have the record, it is considered a legal document either way. |
