I own a kids camp program I want to hire this woman she has good computer skills and would make a good secretary the only thing is I'm trying to be cautious. I did a background check on her and it came back she was charge with child neglect. Would I get in trouble if I hire her?

I'm not sure whether you would get in trouble and I do believe people change. But, to run a children's Camp and to hire someone with that type of background is risky. Even though she would not have interaction with the children, she may fly off the handle a bit with them when frustrated. Only you have met her to make this judgment, so good luck.
Their are many other qualified candidates out their that need jobs, believe me! |

If she is taking care of kids then the answer is NO.
Clerical work only its a maybe.
Well thinging about it, to be charged with child neglect shows a lack of character so the final answer is NO |

Your insurance company might not allow you to employ her, but if they do and she does something to one of the children, you could be held accountable and sued civilly.
You might want to look elsewhere for an employee. |

you say she has been charged but has she been convicted or were charges dropped.. if charges dropped. limit her contact with the children and hire her .. BUT if she was convicted or is still being investigated... i wouldn't hire her at all for the position because of the children that would be present.
i wouldn't want my child to go to your camp knowing you hired this woman with knowledge of the previous problem. I imagination many other parents would feel uneasy if not betrayed to know you hired some one charged and or convicted of child neglect and that person was going to be around thier child |

You won't get in trouble...but I personally, if I was running a business, I wouldn't hire anyone that had ANY charge against them dealing with children.
With plea bargaining these days...never assume that what they were convicted of is what they were charged with...it is very common for child abuse cases to be plea bargained down to child neglect.
Also, you have an obligation to protect those children....the parents are TRUSTING you to make the right decisions.
Good computer skills are not that hard to find. |

OMG.... I do not mean to be disrespectful, but if you have to ask such a question you are definitely in no position to even OWN a kids camp. She was charged with child neglect and heaven forbid anything happens to those children due to her negligence buddy you are in some serious serious trouble. She is certainly not the only person out there with computer skills. Makes me wonder if you are interested in something else that has nothing to do with her skill set. |
