Can they fire me?
Find answers to your legal question.

Can they fire me?

I started working at this company for less than two weeks and there are rumors of them letting me go. Can they do this just after two weeks? I actually have not done any work yet they just have been training me; nothing hands on , just lectureing me about the job.
Dont they have to give me at least 3 months? Can I transfer do another dept? HELP!

depends on if you live in a right to work state

An employer can fire anyone they want to, at any time they want, for any reason at all or for no reason at all.

In most States, the employer AND employee can terminate employment at any time. Of course if you were fired through no fault of your own, you can usually draw unemployment as long as you worked 10 or more days in most States. Nobody owes you a job, unless you live in a communist country. You sound a little naive when it comes to the working world. Just do your best, and even if you aren't what this company is looking for, it doesn't make you a bad worker. You might fit in perfect doing something else for another company. Good luck! :o)

look for help from the people that hired you

Typically new employees are on some type of probationary period ranging from 30-180 days after they begin a new position. During this time the employer OR the employee can end the employment for pretty much any reason at all. Unless you are a contract employee, they can fire you at any time.

Good luck!!

'Fraid not. There is no law stating that a company must keep you for a minimum amount of time.

Sorry, I know that wasn't the answer you wanted.....

When you get employed by a big company, they will state how much notice they need to give you within your probation period if they want to let you go. Since as you have only just started, I am guessing that you are on probation. If this is the case they may be able to let you go at anytime.

Yes, they can fire you....unless you have some special contract you signed with them. But I'm assuming it is the boilerplate contract that says you are being evaluated for the next 3 months and can be let go at anytime with or without reason.

But who cares? You've done nothing wrong. You haven't done any work which is the best part. Enjoy the "training" and start looking for a real job while they "train" you.

Usually there is a 90 day probationary period in which you are on probation and they can get rid of you without any cause...What type of work is it?....and are they expecting you to take initiative and do things on your own?
