I work at a spa, and was recently hired. First, they told me that I would go through a two-week training period where they could train me and also determine whether I was good enough this legal to begin with. (Okay, fair...)
I worked half-days for only about 4 days. Over the email, the owner said that a former employee had a baby and saw the ad on the internet and called her and wanted to return, so now she's gonna hire her and fire me. (i was told this is illegal).
I emailed the owner today about scheduling since I work another job. She emailed back with the above response and added the reasons: 1. I wasn't outgoing enough 2. didn't look the part because I didn't have enough makeup on.
To address the two reasons:
1. how does she know personally how outgoing i am? She watched me for like 20 minutes max while I was doing my job.
2.I'm used to not wearing makeup! I'm slowly adding the process, and I'm fired for not being pretty enough?!?!?
Is this discrimination????

What's discriminating about it?
They just didn't want you for the job and preferred to go with an applicant that required NO training.
If "not being pretty" enough was grounds for discrimination, then every woman who applied for a job as a model at Ford or Elite would have a lawsuit.

2. do you want to work somewhere that only wants "the pretty people" and plays favoritism?
You say you have another job, so this isn't as bad as if it was your only job. Just pick your self up, dust yourself off and find a much nicer place to work.
I hope you find a nicer place with nicer people. I also hope this didn't happen in San Antonio. If it did, I sure don't want to do business there.
