Can you be fired from a job by not working on the sabbath?
Find answers to your legal question.

Can you be fired from a job by not working on the sabbath?

If you are scheduled to work on any day, and you don't show up, that gets you fired. The best bet is to find an employer that will not just give you that day off, but will respect your religious beliefs all together (that is if you don't want to work on the sabbath). It is not impossible to find employers like this, but it is tough. This way you can make some money and still honor that sabbath day.

You can be fired for any reason, or no reason.

The job interview is the place to hash these issues out.

Yep...............sure can...................

According to Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 only if it will cause "undue hardship" for the employer.

In the U.S. a citizens right to religious freedoms is protected by federal and state laws. Many employers are unaware or choose to be ignorant of this.

If you are in a "work at will" position, you can be fired (or leave a job) for any or no reason at all.

If you observe specific religious days, it is your responsibility to let your employer know that you are not available to work on that/those days due to your religious beliefs but you must give them advance time to schedule to mitigate the impact to the business.

This is something that is either discussed when you are talking about availability during your interview, or after you have accepted an offer and are discussing schedule.

yes, they will not say that is the reason, but you can be fired for no reson at all
