My boyfriend went to school and got a degree in sociology because of the AB 540 that lets people with no papers obtain a degree. Now that he has a degree can he even get a job in that field if he doesn't have papers?? Because you know how they say (no papers no job)!

I love the response about the papers costing more on Sunday.
Anyway, what AB 540 seems to be about is allowing U.S. educational opportunities for non-U.S. citizens, even though the education will likely be used in their home countries when their student visa expires.
What this question is really about is becoming "legal" in the U.S. and being able to obtain work and establish a life here. This is the wish of many, and some of us are granted that wish merely because we were born into it. How fair is that?
Immigration authorities grant visas for very specific purposes. Someone with a student or tourist visa who wants to stay in the U.S. and get a decent legit job is going to have to re-file for a work (H1B) visa or a green card. The authorities are not about allowing work-arounds to circumvent this. Once the visa is obtained the proper way, your boyfriend can legitimately work in the U.S. If your boyfriend was a computer guru, a doctor, a rocket scientist, an educator, or a number of other hard-to-find people, his visa app would likely get pushed to the top of the pile. OR, perhaps if you are a U.S. citizen yourself, you could marry him and then have him apply for a visa. Seems to make them take the app more seriously.

I qualified many years ago, and cannot find any certification, but I do remember where and when I got the qualifications. This means I can easily trace the evidence if required. I tend not to have to do so due to my vast experience in my chosen field. I cannot make up knowledge which speaks for itself. |

If you have a degree, you have records and papers saying you have the degree as in you graduated. You can get a degree with experience but again if you have obtained it you will get a diploma, if he does not have one he does not have the degree plain and simple |

Yes you can get a job that is less than your standard! because there is no prove or evidence 2 show that you are a graduate!! and know company will employ you as a sociology without providing your papers. |
