Can you help me understand the best career path to law?

I want to go into law, but would like to start at the bottom of the career ladder, so to speak, as a clerk. I am taking A-Levels, but do know what to choose, and A-Levels are the only qualifications i will be able to take after my GCSE's. I cannot go to uni, or college, i will need to get a job after A-levels.
So how and what is the best route to becoming a clerk?
Please help, it would be really useful to me. thanks.
